Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

NSK is donating €20,000 to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2016, NSK wanted to make a notable charitable gesture to mark this important business landmark. The decision to present MSF with €20,000 was made for a number of reasons, not least because MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or
political affiliation.

When large-scale epidemics occur, when areas in crisis are too dangerous for many other organisations, MSF medical teams are there to assist the affected population. The organisation provides basic medical care, treats the injured, carries out vaccination campaigns, trains local staff and builds up medical infrastructure. In long-term aid projects, MSF teams fight diseases like tuberculosis, malaria, sleeping sickness and HIV/AIDS.

“Reaching a centenary of trading is a major milestone for any business,” says Dr Jürgen Ackermann, CEO NSK Europe Ltd. “We could not let this pass without upholding our values of corporate social responsibility.
MSF performs vital work throughout the world, giving aid and protecting those who are most vulnerable. We are very pleased to make this donation to help fund their life-saving efforts.”

To help fund the donation, NSK will forego giving any Christmas presents to its customers this year.
“I am sure our customers will understand our strategy and join with us in supporting the important work of MSF around the world,” says Dr Jürgen Ackermann.
