NSK forms 49.9:50.1% joint venture for its steering business #NSK Ltd has executed a joint venture agreement (JVA) with Japan Industrial Solutions III Investment Limited Partnership (JIS) involving our #steering business. The JVA saw NSK Steering & Control Inc (NS&C) temporarily issue all 10,041 class shares to NSK, after which we transferred all 10,041 class shares to JIS for ¥20 billion. The arrangement represents the equivalent to 50.1% of NS&C voting rights. We will now operate NS&C jointly with JIS. As a result of the #transfer, NS&C and its consolidated subsidiaries became an equity method affiliate of the company on 1 August 2023, and are now excluded from our scope of consolidation. As a consequence, for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2024, NSK now expects sales to decrease by ¥182 billion, and operating income and income before tax to increase by ¥2.5 billion. Pre-assembled NSK bearings save time and money at vibrating screen manufacturer By switching to NSK pre-assembled, fully integrated bearings, a vibrating screen manufacturer is witnessing annual cost savings of €117,000. The company was previously experiencing difficulties with the consistency of the bearing mounting in its shaker box assembly. At the same time, the plant was looking for opportunities to save manufacturing costs and improve the overall performance of its screens. NSK addressed all these issues following a comprehensive design review of the original machine. Our expert engineers proposed the design of a complete bearing assembly, such that the resultant unit could simply fasten to the machine frame without any complex assembly of housings, bearings, or seals. NSK at the Tenryu River Cleanup and Picnic! 40 NSK employees and family members of the Matsukawa Plant (NSK Micro Precision) collected trash and empty cans along the banks of the Tenryu River. They were joined by 78 other organizations with a total of approximately 3,300 people participating. 2023 was the first time in four years that this activity was held, and the Matsukawa Plant had twice as many participants as in previous years, and they worked hard to maintain the environment by picking up trash while making friends. NSK develops world’s first bioplastic retaining piece for ball screws NSK S1 is the first bioplastic retention piece for ball screws to appear on the global market. Made from 100% renewable biological resources (mainly plants), our use of bioplastic for the new retaining piece reduces carbon footprint by 90% over its lifecycle in comparison with using conventional materials. The development therefore represents an environmentally sustainable choice for any European manufacturer looking to reduce CO2 emissions and meet increasingly stringent regulations. As part of our commitment to realising a carbon-neutral society we’re increasing our use of bioplastics, which are more effective in reducing CO2 emissions than conventional fossil fuel-based plastics. So does NSK! 🌳 On July 15, 2023, in partnership City Hall staff from Hanyu City, Saitama, NSK employees and family cleaned up the Hozoji Swamp Aldrovanda Vesiculosa Habitat, a nationally designated natural monument. Aldrovanda Vesiculosa, also known as the waterwheel plant, is an endangered species of carnivorous plant. Around 20 people took part. NSK Ishibe Plant, in cooperation with a forestry cooperative, conducts forest conservation activities based on the "Lake Biwa Forestation Partner Agreement" !
